Boston Legal Special Edition Season 1-5 DVD Boxset

Boston Legal is an American legal drama-comedy (dramedy) created by David E. Kelley, which originally ran on ABC from October 3, 2004 to December 8, 2008. A spin-off of the long-running series The Practice, Boston Legal followed the personal and professional exploits of a group of attorneys working at the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. Boston Legal had regularly been a top 20 program on ABC and drew one of the most affluent audiences in television.
Before the show's premiere, it had a working title of Fleet Street, an allusion to the real street in Boston where the fictitious Crane, Poole & Schmidt had its offices. The working title was later modified to The Practice: Fleet Street, but this title was dropped in favor of Boston Legal before the show premiered. The real building shown as the law office is located at 500 Boylston Street, 12 minutes away from Fleet Street.

The American producers of the series also hired British writer Sir John Mortimer (creator of the UK legal series Rumpole of the Bailey) as a consultant for Boston Legal

To keep the quirky office staff in tow, Schmidt calls in senior partner Carl Sack (Emmy Award winner John Larroquette) to Boston from the New York offices. He is also keeping an eye on Crane, who considers Sack a worthy nemesis. Added to the mix are Jerry "Hands" Espenson (Christian Clemenson), Shore's friend and fellow lawyer who suffers from Aspergers syndrome, and Clarence Bell (aka Clarice/Clevant/Oprah, portrayed by Gary Anthony Williams), who suffers from such an extreme case of social inadequacy and shyness that he can morph into a number of personalities at the drop of a hat. They continue to try cases while doing their best to fit in with the other members of the firm. Then there's Katie Lloyd (Tara Summers), fresh out of law school and eager to learn as she becomes a young associate of the Boston offices; Lorraine Weller (Saffron Burrows), a sexy, sophisticated litigator who once had a passionate affair with Shore, the chemistry of which still lingers and distracts; and Whitney Rome (Taraji P. Henson), a premiere though unconventional litigator from the New York office who transfers herself to C.P.& S. Boston.

Bought this as a present for my husband - we had only caught a few of the last series on tv. One of the best prezzies I have got him - we have been watching them a couple of episodes a night for a few weeks now - just coming to the end now. Fantastic series - wholly recommended.

television since getting this set than I have in years. You just learn to love to hate and hate to love each character and it is almost seamless the way new characters come in almost unnoticed and long standing ones go without really missing them. Great writing to character[s] and even better execution by the actors make this set a must have for the fan of courtroom type dramas. This will be the fifth and final season for the show--I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Hopefully there will be a spinoff" or "continuation" of this series. This set is very clear [NOT DARK AND GRAINY] and of course without commercials. Well worth the money!!!!!!

Hey, it's Boston Legal-what's not to like?! This show has got something for everyone. The writing has been superb from Day One. The characters are glorious in their diversity, from Denny Crane ("lock and load" as he steps into a stall in the men's room, sports section in hand) to the beleaguered Paul Lewiston, trying desperately to maintain a modicum of Old World decorum in the midst of a microcosm of America's increasingly bizarre socio-economic landscape. One of the basic premises of this show seems to be that there are no sacred cows-equal opportunity irreverence reigns supreme. Tell me that you are not thoroughly tired of the current state of PC (political correctness) which makes one reluctant to express any kind of opinion at all for fear of reprisals ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. The good folks of Boston Legal never fail to show us just how ridiculous it has become. It's a big juicy slice of life with plenty of eye candy, lots of laughs and an undercurrent of carin

Lot's of good humor. Cases were more realistic in earlier episodes and mostly fanciful in later episodes. Case outcomes are highly improbable. .....It's fantasy after all, but a lot of fun.

I missed most of the first two seasons, so this package was a lifesaver! This is rapidly becoming my favorite show, and having it on DVD makes it possible to watch whenever I want. The extra info on each season is a lot of fun as well. And since I have an upconverting DVD player, I get a cleaner picture than watching the broadcast, even though the broadcast is in HD.

I'm a Trek lover so Cap. Kirk (William Shatner) was a childhood fav. I love him as Denny Crain in this TV series. A movement of new faces keeps each season as fresh and funny as the last. A "Best Byu" in DVD.

I agree with everything Tami said in her great review, but wanted to add a few things I really like about this series. First, for me, the best part of this show is the great relationship between Denny Crane and Alan Shore. It captures for me what I value in my own favorite friendships, and constantly reminds me how much I value my own friends. Boston Legal does a better job of illuminating this friendship dynamic than any show I can think of. Second, as a kid who grew up watching the original Star Trek, I have generally been disappointed with most of what Shatner has done since....until this series came out! This is the perfect role for Shatner, and as a life-long fan it is a real joy to see how well he does with this role. To me this show is about friendship and the potential joy of everyday life, and for me Shatner and James Spader are the ideal actors for the roles, and both deserve the credit for making this show what it is. DVD's are great quality! I am very happy!!! The best!

I was so sad to see Boston Legal end its series. However, I am very grateful to be able to own this whole set. This is the only TV series that I own or desire to own. The writing was well done. The topics were thought provoking. And it kept up with current events. In some ways this reflects the history of issues in our country during the period in which it was filmed. And what a better way to preserve history--through crazy, thought provoking humor. My favorite show was the last episode but I can't think of an episode I didn't like. For me, this series even made me sometimes view the world differently, even if i wasn't aware of it at the time. Just a couple of days ago, I was in a store where a man had a "tick" and made some kind of funny noise. I just turned to my friend and said, "he squeeks". It seems like a simple thing, but before I would have been uncomfortable or even made a joke at the persons expense. i guess some people might think that comment is a joke--but if they knew thi
