The Golden Girls was an American sitcom that originally aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to May 9, 1992. Starring Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, the show centers on four older women sharing a Miami, Florida home. The series was produced by Touchstone Television and distributed by Buena Vista Television. It currently airs on the Hallmark Channel and WE tv.
The sitcom was originally conceived by NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff and created by Susan Harris. Tartikoff was visiting his elderly aunt one day, and saw how she and her next-door neighbor, who also was her best friend, interacted with each other. Despite their constant bickering and arguments, they were still the best of friends and loved each other. He thought that would make a great premise for a TV show.
The Golden Girls won several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series twice. All four stars won at least one Emmy Award throughout the series' entire run.

Still hitting Gold
Most TV-shows decline after several seasons. The writing. The actors seem to get bored with their characters etc etc.
But not this one!!!! - These amazing actresses (yes, actresses, not actors - they are not men) set the standard for all shows that came after Golden Girls.

This is one of my favorite showes of all times. The "girls" play off of each other so good. There is a lot of sexual themes, so it wouldn't be appropriate for small children to see, but it is great for adults...

i am always a big fan of the golden girls. iuse to watch the series on tv at every opportunity now thanks to dvd-retails. i buy the box sets and watch at my own leisure and pleasure and laugh out loud without interuption from advertisement. golden girl girls is a wonderful comedy series join the girls and have a belly full of laugh its a guarantee.

Those are the last words you will hear from Bea Arthur on the last episode. I guess this is the Golden Sunset. it's saddening but true. I know as soon as season 7 is released, then I just know i'll go right to the first seasons disc and watch them all over again. Probably like my very own Golden Girls TV Marathon haha only i'll be the one with the episodes at my fingertips. The show naturally ended because Bea Arthur was tired and didn't want to continue but Rue, Betty, and Estelle did so they went on to make the Golden Palace, but Bea Arthur made some hilarious
episodes and the combacks were clever! Those were some things to cherish!!! Can't wait until February!!!!!

I love the Golden Girls and glad to have them on DVD so I can watch and laugh all the time, nothing like it nowadays on TV, great series, we will miss Estelle Getty!

This disc completes my collection. I wish there were more seasons or that they would put the "golden Palace" on disc. I am 22 and a very big "Golden Girls" fan I absolutely LOVE THE ENTIRE COLLECTION!!!

I actually hated to see season 7 come in the mail the other day because I knew that was it, no more after that.
My "Girls" are gone ! But I'll just start watching them all over again and again when I feel the urge for good decent comedy that never gets old no matter how many times you see it !

This is my favourite show of all time and my favourite season. For me, it was probably the most consistently funny (not that I've ever seen an episode that wasn't funny). So, on the one hand, it was very sad for me to say good-bye to a show that was clearly still in it's prime, but on the other hand, I'm also happy we were potentially spared from any shark jumping. Thank heavens for these DVDs!

Like Seasons 1 thru 6, Season 7 is a thoroughly enjoyable DVD of a fantastic series, perhaps the greatest of all time. Dorothy, Rose, Blance and Sophie leave us wanting a Season 8 and so on. I hope "Golden Palace" will be available on DVD as well.

This is my favorite season because they go to that murder mystery weekend in this one and they get their heads frozen in Rose's dream. This season is hilarious and it also includes Leslie Neilson! Like with season 4 last year I plan to pick up a box of chocolates and my Golden Girls and enjoy Valentine's day!
I'll get my head frozen if they release Golden Palace the complete show and Maude! Oh and maybe they will release that t.v. movie "Once in a Lifetime" with Betty White where she gets a chance to bungie jump and fall in love with Leslie Neilson!

It has been a long time coming. We have been waiting for this DVD to come out for what seems like a lifetime. Although one can watch the Golden Girls various times of the day, how nice it will be to own my favorite program on DVD. This is the best thing since Sperheuven Krispies!
